Cette œuvre originale en acier représente le pont de la Confédération, qui relie le Nouveau-Brunswick à l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard. Elle s’inspire de photographies prises par l’artiste lors de ses explorations du territoire. Des perforations rythmiques découpées au laser, soulignent l’architecture du pont et révèlent le mur situé à quelques centimètres derrière le métal. Les ouvertures ombragées invitent à une nouvelle lecture de l’œuvre.

L’artiste sélectionne chaque plaque d’acier industriel pour ses textures et colorations naturelles qu’il intègre à la composition comme paysage en arrière-plan. Les découpes suivent précisément un dessin numérique qu’il conçoit. L’artiste crée l’image sur acier selon une technique qui lui est propre, inspirée de la gravure, alliant peinture par oxydation et sérigraphie.

Chaque œuvre de cette série est numérotée et fait partie d’une édition limitée. Sa singularité repose sur l’interaction entre le matériau sélectionné et le processus d’oxydation, qui varient d’une pièce à l’autre.

Oxidation painting on steel

This original artwork is a representation of the Confederation Bridge that connects Prince Edward Island to the mainland of New Brunswick, inspired by photographs taken by the artist while traveling in Eastern Canada. Laser-cut openings reveal the surface behind the piece and emphasize the structure’s architecture. Light passing through projects its shadow onto the wall, offering a new way to interpret the work.

The work integrates an industrial steel plate selected by the artist for its textures and natural colorations. It is precisely positioned to suggest a landscape in the background. Openings are cut according to a digital drawing, and the image is rendered on the steel using a personal technique inspired by etching, combining oxidation painting and silkscreening.

Each artwork is unique and part of a numbered edition. Its singularity lies in the interplay between the selected material and the oxidation process, both of which vary from one piece to another.
