Cette œuvre originale en acier représente le contour délicat des Grands-Lacs, découpé au laser, révélant le mur situé à quelques centimètres derrière l’œuvre. La lumière projette ainsi une ombre de la découpe sur le mur, brouillant la frontière entre forme et mémoire.

L’artiste sélectionne chaque plaque d’acier industriel pour ses textures et colorations naturelles. Ces éléments graphiques sont précisément agencés en relation avec les ouvertures, puis enrichis par son procédé de peinture par oxydation.

Chaque œuvre de cette série est numérotée. Sa singularité repose sur l’interaction entre le matériau sélectionné et le processus d’oxydation, qui varient d’une pièce à l’autre.

Oxidation painting on steel

This original steel artwork depicts the delicate outline of the Great Lakes, laser-cut to reveal the wall behind the piece. As light passes through, the cutout casts a shadow on the wall, blurring the boundary between form and memory.

The work integrates an industrial steel plate selected by the artist for its textures and natural colorations. The composition of these graphic elements is precisely arranged in relation to the cutouts, then enriched through the artist’s oxidation painting process.

Each artwork is unique and numbered. Its singularity lies in the interplay between the selected material and the oxidation process, both of which vary from one piece to another.
