Oxidation painting on steel

This original steel artwork depicts the delicate outline of the Magdalen Islands, laser-cut to reveal the wall behind the piece. As light passes through, the cutout casts a shadow on the wall, blurring the boundary between form and memory.

The work integrates an industrial steel plate selected by the artist for its textures and natural colorations. The composition of these graphic elements is precisely arranged in relation to the cutouts, then enriched through the artist’s oxidation painting process.

Each artwork is unique and numbered. Its singularity lies in the interplay between the selected material and the oxidation process, both of which vary from one piece to another.
