About Contours

(Continents, Islands & Lakes)

The series explore the opposites. In the most obvious way, the negative work challenges the representation of land and water. Multiple shadows created on the wall reminds us of change, fluidity and movement. Highly contrasting with the nature of the material chosen by the artist. This oppositions can also be felt between a strong sense of belonging to a certain part of the world and it's absence. The shadows as a trace, memories of a significant place.

I’ve always been drawn to abstract forms and what our imagination can see in them. In this series, the cutouts can give meaning to the steel while it’s surface patterns and casted shadows suggest the original abstract forms created by earth and water.
